Philippe Raskin
Born in Brussels, Philippe Raskin dedicated himself to music at a very young age. His performances have been described as “a model of radiant authority… luminous, generous, committed, and under control” (MDM, La Libre Belgique), and he plays “with breathtaking confidence” (JK, Mundo Clásico).
Philippe began piano lessons with Aleksandr Friedland, a Russian conductor, and continued working with Bernadette Malter and Loredana Clini. He further developed his artistry with Vincenzo Balzani, Ralf Gothoni, and Leon Fleisher, as well as with Johannes Meissl and Hatto Beyerle for chamber music.
At 16, he began studying at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels in the class of Jean-Claude Vanden Eynden. That same year, he earned his first degree with top honors. She then joined the Queen Elisabeth Chapel Choir (still with Jean-Claude Vanden Eynden) and graduated again with highest honors, receiving her diploma from Her Majesty the Queen of Belgium. During the same period, she completed her Master’s degree in piano and chamber music at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels.

In 2005, he entered the Reina Sofía School of Music in Madrid, where he studied for four years under Dimitri Bashkirov and Claudio Martínez Mehner. In his first year, he received the Outstanding Award from Her Majesty the Queen of Spain at the Palace of El Pardo. In 2012, he was awarded a prize at the Lyon International Piano Competition and won first prize at the “Composers of Spain” International Piano Competition in Madrid.
Philippe has performed in numerous recitals, as part of chamber ensembles, and as a soloist with orchestras worldwide—in renowned concert halls such as the Great Hall of the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow, the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, the Musikverein in Vienna, and the Philharmonie in Berlin. He was also invited by the Chopin Foundation in Warsaw to perform in the composer’s birthplace.
Philippe regularly performs with orchestras such as the Belgian National Orchestra, the Flanders Symphony Orchestra, and the Salzburg Chamber Soloists, among many others. His chamber music collaborators include artists such as Clemens Hagen, Jérôme Pernoo, and Miguel Da Silva.

Philippe also regularly performs contemporary music and has participated in several world premieres. Philippe is invited each year to serve on the juries of several international piano competitions, such as the Piano Talents International Competition in Milan, the Lyon International Piano Competition, and the MozArte Competition in Cologne. He is also the artistic director of the César Franck International Piano Competition and the Paris International Music Festival (FIM). He is a regular member of the juries for the Spanish Composers Competition in Madrid, Valsesia Música, Cita de Cantú, and other competitions.
